HIKI NŌ 11|2|21: 1303 2021 HIKI NŌ Triple Crown of Storytelling Challenge, Part 2
This is the second of two special episodes revealing the winning entries of the first-ever HIKI NŌ Triple Crown of Storytelling Challenge, in which students entered three categories: the traditional Story Category, the How-To and the Student Reflection.
In the past, HIKI NŌ challenges had only one category of entry.
In this episode, find out which teams placed in the Story Category, which school dominated the social media portion of the competition, and which school was awarded the first-ever HIKI NŌ Triple Crown of Storytelling title.
For the 2021 HIKI NŌ Triple Crown of Storytelling Challenge, students had just four days to film, conduct interviews and edit projects that met the theme: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE. They did so without any hands-on help from teachers and no mentoring from industry professionals.
During the normal, non-competitive HIKI NŌ production cycle, students have up to two months to complete a project, and they receive one-on-one mentorship help from industry professionals.
The teams entered from middle and high schools across four islands, and a handful entered all three categories to vie for the title of the HIKI NŌ Triple Crown of Storytelling.
Scores were given based on how well the project met the theme and how well the videos met HIKI NŌ’s production and storytelling criteria.
The 2021 HIKI NŌ Triple Crown of Storytelling Challenge is supported by State Farm®.
