INSIGHTS features election contests for two State House districts, one in Central Oʻahu and one on Hawaiʻi Island:

–Three candidates are running for House District 5 on Hawaiʻi Island, currently held by Richard Creagan who is not seeking re-election. The district represents Kailua-Kona, Kealakekua, Ocean View and Nāʻālehu.

Citlalli Johanna Decker is the Aloha ʻĀina Party candidate. She was born and raised in Texas and moved to Hawaiʻi with her husband who is from Hawaiʻi. Libertarian Party candidate Michael Last is an electrical engineering consultant who ran unsuccessfully in 2018 for the State Senate. Democratic Party candidate Jeanne Kapela was born in Kona and was raised on a coffee farm in Captain Cook.

–House District 36 represents Mililani and Mililani Mauka in Central Oʻahu. Incumbent Republican Val Okimoto has lived in the district for more than 16 years. She was born and raised on Kauaʻi and is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Hawaii. Seeking to unseat her is Democrat Trish La Chica. She serves on the Mililani Neighborhood Board and is a public health advocate.
