Tonight’s INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAIʻI Election 2020 program features Democratic Primary Candidates for State House District 20. For the first time in more than four decades, the seat will be filled by someone other than Representative Calvin Say. The district encompasses several neighborhoods including St. Louis Heights, Pālolo Valley and Kaimukī. The four Democrats facing off in the primary election are: attorney and small business owner Rebecca Gardner, who serves on the Kaimukī Neighborhood Board; Jay Ishibashi, program specialist with the State Labor Department; Saint Louis Heights Neighborhood Board member Jackson Sayama; and attorney and former educator Derek Turbin. The winner faces retiree and perennial Republican candidate Julia Allen on November 3.
