NHK World TV spotlights Japan and Asia with a unique perspective on global and regional developments. It is the new, international television service provided by Japan's only public broadcasting network, NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation).
NHK's global network includes bureaus and offices in 30 of the world's major cities, with more than 70 overseas correspondents gathering news. The 24/7 programming originates from Tokyo and is attracting a growing worldwide audience through broadcast and cable distribution.
Taking advantage of NHK's extensive network, the on-the-hour LIVE 30-minute NEWSLINE news segments are complemented by a diverse array of programming focused on Japanese culture and lifestyle, trends in technology and business, and Japan's role and opinions regarding important global issues. NHK World TV is the only international news gathering source currently using High Definition (HD) technology and equipment in the studio AND on location - which creates a stunning visual presentation throughout all the news segments.

TOKYO FASHION EXPRESS takes you backstage for interviews with the hottest designers and creators based in Tokyo. BEGIN JAPANOLOGY explains how Japanese culture (traditional and modern) evolved and the role it plays in people's lives today. ASIA BIZ FORECAST is a fast-paced, magazine-style program presenting the latest in Asia business news and trends.
JAPAN BIZ CAST introduces emerging business trends and Japanese products from cars and electronics to foodstuffs. IMAGINE-NATION shows you the most popular titles from the genres of manga, anime and games with interviews from the creators. The current affairs program ASIAN VOICES and the more globally focused TODAY'S CLOSEUP offer issue-oriented, informative, professionally produced content.
Live satellite feeds of NHK World TV can be seen on PBS Hawaii Monday-Friday from 1-3 PM,
and Saturday & Sunday from 6-7 PM.
