TOP STORY:   Students from Kapaa High School on Kauai report on an organic, 21st Century twist on an iconic Hawaii treat – shave ice. For decades, shave ice, brought to Hawaii by the Japanese, consisted of brightly and artificially colored syrup on shaved ice in a paper cone.

This look back at some of the outstanding HIKI NŌ stories from the winter quarter of the 2014/2015 school year is hosted by two former HIKI NŌ interns, Akane Kashiwazaki and Terrence Nahina, now students at the University of Hawaii Academy for Creative Media.

This episode of HIKI NŌ is the program’s first-ever all-Oahu show.   Top Story: Students from Campbell High School profile Christian Jacob Nguyen, a Campbell High junior whose love of dance carried him through difficult times that included the divorce of his parents.

Top stories from the past season of HIKI NŌ, PBS Hawaiʻi’s statewide student news network, will be shown at free public screenings on Maui, the Big Island, Kauai and Oahu as part of the 2015 HIKI NŌ Festival.
