When the National Football League recently settled a lawsuit over brain injuries caused by concussions, agreeing to pay out $765 million, it did so as the best investigative reporting program on television, FRONTLINE, prepared to air its findings.

FRONTLINE League of Denial: The NFL's Concussion Crisis (Sunday, Oct. 13, 9:00 pm) details how, for years, the League denied and worked to refute scientific evidence that routine collisions during the game are linked to early-onset dementia, chronic traumatic brain disease, and death for some of football's all-time greats. In the legal settlement reached last August, the League agreed to pay players but accepted no liability.
