Hawaiian Airlines Presents Na Mele: Emma Veary at Halekulani

Today at age 81, Emma Veary is still beautiful and her voice remains true when she sings and when she laughs! Hear and see the Golden Voice of Hawaii for yourself in HAWAIIAN AIRLINES PRESENTS NA MELE: Emma Veary at Halekulani.

PBS Hawaii cameras captured a one-time performance of the celebrated vocalist at Halekulani's House Without A Key, the elegant Waikiki venue where Emma headlined 39 years ago. The magical evening brought back the golden age of Waikiki as Emma performed the original songlist of her 1970s show. Jazz vocalist and PBS Hawaii Board Director Jimmy Borges describes her voice as "sweet, pitch-perfect and lovely as ever."

Sisters Robyn and K. Noelani, performed with their mother along with virtuoso pianist Randy Hongo and harpist Nyle Hallman. Longtime friends of Emma, including Jimmy B., also got up in the audience to perform in tribute. As part of a pledge-of-support drive on the night of this broadcast, PBS Hawaii will offer as thank-you gifts DVD copies of Emma's concert, with the added bonus of a graceful hula from renowned hula dancer Beverly Noa and songs by Nina Keali'iwahamana and Tony Conjugacion.

Harry Soria Jr. and Leslie Wilcox host this rare concert, taped last April. We will also have Emma and Robyn with us live in studio.
